Yoda, Elmo, and an Archer

We went to a dear friend's birthday party on Thursday. It was a costume party, and my two littler men dressed up in their costumes. Matthew, who felt too hot to wear his full bodysuit clone trooper costume (it was 100F that day!), came in civilian clothes. The birthday boy received a wooden boy and arrow from his parents, and here you see Matthew (who climbed to the top of the jungle gym) practicing his aim while waiting for his turn with the boy and arrow.
Here's our dear Nene in his Yoda costume. It comes with ears, too, but he went for the more generic Jedi look.

And here's our little Elmo-obsessed boy. Again, I have to remind you that it was probably 80 degrees even indoors. He only lasted about 15 minutes with the costume and then wanted to take it off. Cute, huh? Notice how taking pictures with flash of this furry red monster just brings a red glow to the whole frame.

Baked Oatmeal

I tried a new recipe for baked oatmeal. It is handed down through an Amish family. It was gooooooooood. Yum. Here is the recipe: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Baked-Oatmeal-II/Detail.aspx

Nathan did not love it. Matthew did, though, and had two helpings. Dave gave it a thumbs up, too. I have been eating this stuff all week (it makes a ton).

360 Spin Mop

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with this company. They are not paying me to have my children model for them.

That said. . .
We LOVE this thing! A young man at church (Gabriel) recommended this to us (it's his chore to mop at home twice weekly). I went into a free shipping deal with my sister June - and it came!

As you can see, it is easy enough for even Nathan (5) to mop. Aaron even gave it a go! You can see how dirty the water got when we used it. The best thing about it - you never have to touch the mop head with your hands! You fill the bucket up with warm water, dip the mop in and then spin spin spin it out in the spinning chamber. The head comes off, if need be, to pop into the washer (I have not tried this yet). Hooray for Spin Mops! Thank you, Gabriel!
I still have not figured out how to delete a photo from my post. The first photo is of Matthew working on his homework. I wanted to put it in a different entry, but oh well.

Testing. . . testing. . .

I have been blogging really reaaaallly sporadically on xanga and thinking about moving over to blogspot. Here's my trial entry to see how it goes.

These are some photos taken with our new to us Canon Rebel. We took these photos on our camping trip to Camp Reyes following WCCC at San Fransisco State University.
Did you know that Point Reyes is the windiest and foggiest point on the west coast of the United States? It was really beautiful. Can't wait to go again! Aren't my boys handsome?
